Nate is my sun, moon and stars. A miracle in my life. If I could offer him the world I would. I am taking him to Chile in a few days. This is, hopefully, the first of many trips to Chile. I was born in Chile and raised in California. I am hoping Nate will be able to tap into his Chilean roots by introducing him to not only the country but the many relatives he has. A part of his background that I am hoping he will embrace and take it with him for the rest of his life. He is at an age where he is a sponge just soaking up information. My goal is to have him speaking Spanish as well as he speaks English.
In preparing for this trip I read online someplace that I should start prepping him by showing him photos of where we are going and people we will be seeing. I thought a week before would be a good time. Wow, what a reaction! He immediately got his backpack and starting loading it up with the things he wants to take. Next thing I know, he is asking when are we going to go on the airplane and has not stopped. Maybe I should have waited until the day before. He has been reciting his cousins name "Colomba, Clemente and Salvador." He is anxious! Although I know he will have an amazing time, I don't think he quite understands that his Daddy is not going. This will be the longest the both of us will be without Mike. We will miss him something fierce.
Well, I guess it's time to pack....
oh my gosh Maria, he looks soooo much like Mike. When I looked at this picture, it looked like a little blond Mike :-)
ReplyDeleteMini Mike is what we call him at times. Everyone tells us that he looks like Mike but has my character. How funny is that. Enjoy,
